The Pakistan Institute for Parliamentary Services (PIPS) in collaboration with IP5-Mustehkam Parlimaan (a project funded by European Union) commenced a three-day workshop on “House and Committee Business: Responsibilities and Functions of Sindh and Balochistan Assembly Officers” on 12th May, 2022 at Marriott Hotel, Karachi.
The programme inaugurated with the recitation of the Holy Quran. Mr. Waqas Ahmad Qureshi, Director Parliamentary Development Programmes, PIPS, gave an overview of the workshop deliverables, followed by welcome remarks by Dr. Syed Pervaiz Abbas, Deputy Team Lead, Mustehkam Parlimaan. Mr. Muhammad Anwar, the Executive Director, PIPS, formally welcomed the participants and highlighted the significance of learning parliamentary business for Secretariat officers in his welcome speech.
The workshop comprises briefing sessions on the Rules, Provisions and Responsibilities of Parliamentary Staff, to enable them perform their jobs effectively while assisting Members in Legislative, Non-Legislative and the Committee Business.
The programme is being attended by 40 officers serving in Grade 16 and above in the Secretariats of the Provincial Assemblies of Balochistan and Sindh and will conclude on the 14th of May, 2022.
